Time to hustle off to the next phase of training. The men of the Tank Destroyer School and the Infantry Replacement Training Center were always on the move. As training progressed, 16-mile and 25-mile hikes with full packs were not uncommon.

An M10 tank destroyer heads over the dirt roads of Camp Hood. Mobility was very important in the tank destroyer doctrine. The M10 could reach 32 miles per hour on a paved road. Move and shoot was the order of the day. M10s were not designed for head-to-head fighting with tank groups; instead, they were designed to shoot and then move.
